Recognized as the preeminant amateur team event, the Walker Cup is a men's amateur competition played every other year between a squad from the United States and another representing Great Britain and Ireland. It always features some of the very best young players who you will soon be watching compete on professional tours around the world.

While there are many differences between the two sides, when this year's 42nd Walker Cup Match was played at the 6,846-yard Merion Golf Club, the 10 players on each side had one very important equipment choice in common...they all chose to wear the new FJ ICON golf shoes from FootJoy. The teams chose two styles each, one for the morning fourball matches and one for the afternoon singles matches.

The United States team, which defeated the GB&I team 16.5 - 9.5 to win for the third consecutive time, wore the FJ ICON white pebble, traditional saddle (style #52005) during the morning matches and the new white and black sport saddle (style #52070) during the afternoon. The GB&I team opted for custom shoes through FootJoy's MyJoys program that featured their team logo on the heel of the shoes. They also wore the white pebble traditional saddle in the morning but opted for a white and black saddle (style #52039) in the afternoon.

Overall, it was the third consecutive win for the Americans, who now hold a 34-7-1 all-time record in the Walker Cup. Check out some images below.

I was fortunate enough to watch some of theWalker Cup on the Golf Channel. The guys looked great in their ICONs. My congratulations to the US team. The GBI team logos on their shoes looked great also.

Great shots!  I wasn't able to watch on TV at all, but kept up best I could.  All ICON, all the time....I love it.

I really like the look of GB&I logo on the shoes.  Can't wait for the MyJoys program.  Well done all around.

+1 on that Tar Heel -- is that an available option to the public does anyone know??

I'm sure you've already shared this, but when will you have FJ Icons available for women?

Hi lizzyval,

Thanks for the question, which is a good one. We are actually working on a complete overhaul of the women's MyJoys line and I think you'll see some very exciting and sophisticated offerings, all of which will offer full customization, in the near future! Stay tuned....

Mondo -- That is a special GB&I logo that was developed through our MyJoys Corporate/Custom program.
