19hole: shawks11: I really enjoy watching them all but, I'm going to go with the British Open. The rest of the World refers to this event as The Open, only here in the USA is it the British Open. By the way it is my favorite major. Bholley, if you were to watch The Open in the UK on Sky or BBC there are almost no commercials from about 7:00 AM until dark (almost 9:45 PM) EVERY day that play is on. Absolutely the best coverage of any event anywhere!

You are right about the TV coverage (probably the reason CBS used Henry Longhurst). I was talking about being there. At the Masters they even make the beer trucks delivering product cover up so you can't see which brand. No advertisement or product placement anywhere except on the players and their bags.
Everyone on this post makes great points for their choice. My choice is the Masters with the US Open a close 2nd. I love Jim Nance covering the Masters and I love the "Tradition Unlike Any Other" motto. I also think Johnny Miller and Dan Hicks do a great job covering the US Open.
As an American with very little experience on Links style courses, I think The Open Championship is great, but I probably don't appreciate it as much as I should. I am not knocking that tournament, just saying that I don't fully appreciate the history and aura like I know I should.
1) The Masters
2) The British Open
3) The US Open
4) The PGA Championship
US Open would be higher on the list, but they try too hard to make the course difficult to play. Would be better if they left the courses playable and allow for birdies, as opposed to trying to have the players make a bogey...
You got to love the Masters..............

+1 TODDL,,,,,,,I LOVE THE LINKS COURSES AT THE BRITISH.
I'VE GEEN TO THE MASTERS SEVERAL TIMES AND THE PLACE IS LIKE NOTHING ELSE.
1. MASTERS
2. US OPEN
3. BRITISH OPEN
4. PGA
The rich history behind St Andrews has an Aura that cannot be matched by even the Mr. Jones course.
My picks are still the same.
1. The Open
2. The Masters
3. The US Open
4. The PGA
Tim
The Masters
The British
The US Open
PGA Championship
Nothing in my mind will ever surpass The Masters. The tradition, the beauty, and course itself.
1. The Masters
2. The Open
3. The British Open
My favorite major is the US Open. The reason is I enjoy when the courses are demanding and the scores are at par or worse. The mental aspect of relative to par seems to really ding egos.
its The Masters!! been several times and nothing like that experience!!! once you've been there it will give you a whole new perspective on the course and difficulty of the shots
wow, after watching the end of this years masters, my all time favorite has got to be the 2011 masters.
US Open for me. Love it.
Of course the green jacket and all that is Augusta is a very close second for me.
US Open, British, Masters, PGA. All great - like deciding between filet mignon and lobster.
Would any of you like to see the PGA Championship return to match play (1957 was the last time)? I think it would add excitement as this tourney is a little overshadowed by the other majors.
let me know!
